Silcarb has successfully installed an energy efficient electric melting furnace for aluminium, marking an important step toward cleaner and more sustainable metal melting technology. This furnace replaces traditional fuel-based melting systems with a fully electric solution, eliminating combustion-related emissions while improving operational efficiency.

Electric aluminium melting furnaces are increasingly being adopted by modern die casting plants and foundries looking to reduce pollution, improve energy efficiency, and achieve more stable melting conditions.

Official Update

Silcarb has installed an extremely energy efficient electric melting furnace for aluminum. This furnace works on zero pollution and is completely electric which replaces the tradition gas-fired reverberatory furnaces(or skelner furnaces).

The shop is now clean, without any pollution.

The furnaces has no fragile crucible(which is a consumable) and is lined with high-end insulating castable(monolithic) with a guaranteed life of five years.

The customer has repeated this order for the same size for its second unit.

Silcarb is now manufacturing a new central melting furnaces for a pressure die-casting plant which is all electric and with an automated loading system to give an output of one tonne of aluminum per hour to replace their tower melting furnaces which is fuel fired.

Electric Melting Furnace

Advantages of Electric Aluminium Melting Furnaces

Electric melting furnaces offer several advantages compared to traditional fuel-fired systems such as gas-fired reverberatory furnaces or tower melting furnaces.

Key benefits include:

  • zero direct emissions during melting operations
  • cleaner and safer working environments
  • improved temperature control and melting consistency
  • reduced maintenance due to elimination of fuel combustion systems
  • lower operational pollution levels inside the shop floor

As environmental regulations tighten worldwide, electric melting systems are becoming a preferred choice for modern aluminium processing plants.

Monolithic Furnace Lining for Longer Life

One of the important design features of this furnace is the use of high-end insulating monolithic castable refractory lining. Unlike traditional systems that rely on fragile crucibles, this furnace uses a robust refractory structure designed for long service life.

Advantages of this design include:

  • elimination of crucible replacement costs
  • improved thermal insulation
  • longer furnace life
  • reduced downtime for maintenance

The refractory lining in this furnace is designed with a guaranteed operational life of up to five years, significantly improving operational reliability.

Transition Toward Fully Electric Aluminium Melting Systems

The successful installation of this furnace reflects a growing industry shift toward fully electric aluminium melting solutions. Silcarb is currently manufacturing a central electric melting furnace system for a pressure die casting plant, designed to deliver an output of one tonne of aluminium per hour.

This new system will replace conventional fuel-fired tower melting furnaces and will feature:

  • fully electric melting technology
  • automated aluminium loading systems
  • high melting efficiency
  • improved environmental performance

Such systems represent the next generation of sustainable aluminium melting technology.

Silcarb’s Expertise in Aluminium Furnace Engineering

Silcarb designs and manufactures a wide range of aluminium melting and heat processing furnace systems, including:

  • electric aluminium melting furnaces
  • gas fired melting furnaces
  • tilting furnaces for non-ferrous metals
  • aluminium holding furnaces
  • degassing systems for molten aluminium
  • custom engineered furnace systems for die casting plants

Each system is designed for high efficiency, long operational life, and reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.
